So today ive got the gorgeous May from May loves Make-up!
May : Really well thanks, I went to an Aussie event yesterday in Leeds and it was lovely to spend the afternoon with some other bloggers! It was so much fun! There's plenty of snow outside today so I'm staying in and keeping warm and cosy!
Stacey : The aussie event sounded fab, it was the Christmas Market wasnt it? I'd love to meet other bloggers! Im so jealous you've got snow, we havent got any yet in Manchester but just mega cold!! So what made you decide to start blogging ?
May : Yes, the Christmas Market, it was fab! I've always been really excited about makeup and beauty products and I discovered the beauty blogging community when I started searching online for product reviews. I started reading a few of the blogs I'd come across regularly and thought it looked like a lot of fun so i decided to give it a go myself!
Stacey : And we ALL are so glad you did give it ago, i love reading your blog :) your reviews are FAB!! So you've been thinking of making the jump over to youtube ... how you getting on with making video's ??
May : Aw thank you, that is so sweet of you! Thanks hun! Hee hee, the only place you're likely to see my videos at the moment is You've Been Framed! They're pretty funny. I saw 'ummm' too much, I drop things, I'm quite nervous in front of the camera but I'm getting there and you've personally inspired me to attempt to make at least one watchable video!
Stacey : hee hee im sure they cant be that bad, i say errm in mine all the time & drop everything, but hey thats me im not perfect! What would you say is your favourite thing about the blogging ??
May : Your vids are fab! I loved you haircare one! It's definitely the feedback I get from my lovely followers, it's always nice to get a comment, an e-mail or even a tweet about something I've posted. I've been lucky enough to meet some of my fellow bloggers now too which is fantastic, there's a lovely community of girls behind the scenes of beauty blogging!
Stacey : aww thank youuu :) I agree with there's tons of lovely girls behind the scenes and i'll meet you's all soon (fingers crossed) Ive been lucky to not recieve any negative comments or feedback on my blog ... i know there are somepoor bloggers out there who gets alot of stick, have you ever recieved any negativty towards yourself & blog ??
May : No I haven't. I think it's a shame that some girls have to deal with negativity on their blogs!
Stacey : I agree ... some people are just cruel! So what can we expect to see from May loves Make-up over the up & coming months?
May : Beauty Blogger Banter is taking a little break over the festive period and will be coming back in the New Year looking all fab and revamped! I'll be taking a spa day next month for my birthday and telling you all about that, I have lots more products waiting to be reviewed and fingers crossed for a video that won't make you wonder if you're watching some kind of spoof!
May : Aw thank you lovely! I usually wear something that looks quite natural so I go for fresh, flawless skin, blush, neutral eyeshadows and I always have black eyeshadow smudged into my lash line rather than eyeliner, mascara and whatever lipstick/lipgloss I'm loving at the time! At the moment it's Estee Lauder Pure Colour lipgloss in Brazen Berry, I can't get enough of it!
Stacey : ooo black eyeshadow will look alot more natural than black liner *stores that for next time i do my make-up* Where do you get your make-up inspiration from?
May : Yes it's much softer but still gives loads of definition, I just use a slanted brush to apply it! I get inspiration from anywhere and everywhere! I love Gossip Girl and I LOVE the makeup in that programme! I was in Accessorize a couple of weeks ago and the sales assistant had lovely eyemakeup and I complimented her on it and she told me which products she used (if she doesn't have a blog she should start one!) Recently I'd painted my nails in a 17 shade called Peacock and that inspired me to create an eye look in the colours of a peacock feather and of course there's the classic tearing pages out of magazines when you see a look you like!
Stacey : i always ask people ooo i like that lipstick what is it ... lol ... otherwise i'd be thinking for AGES i need it heehee!! What’s the item of make-up you couldn’t live without?
May : Me too! I always tell someone if I like their hair, makeup, shoes etc. It's always nice to get a compliment and you can sometimes get some good tips! This is always a really tough question to answer but at the moment it's my Illamasqua Rich Liquid foundation. I know this product doesn't work for everyone but I'm really pale so finding a foundation that matches my skin tone so well is amazing and it's a full coverage foundation too so perfect for me!
Stacey : i think foundation is alot of peoples cant leave the house without item ... What was your biggest make-up disaster? (and have you got any sneaky pics that we can see heehee?)
May : Oh I'm sure there's been plenty! For a little while when I was a teen I couldn't go anywhere without lashings of black khol round my eyes, all photographic evidence has since been destroyed fortunately for me! Hee hee!
Stacey : hee hee ... darn, would of loved to see those pictures! So enough about make-up ... What would you say is your most prized possession in your wardrobe?
May : I have a faux fur coat from River Island that I absolutely adore, I replaced the original buttons with some gorgeous vintage buttons from the 1940s, I love it!
Stacey : fab idea changing the buttons, making it more individual!! How would you describe your sense of style?
May : When I'm being casual I'll wear skinny jeans and a t-shirt (I have some skinny jeans that I bought when I was 19 that I still wear!) and the rest of the time you're likely to catch me in a dress and heels! I love classic, feminie styles.
Stacey : So your a typical english rose with your natural make-up and classic feminie style! What’s your favourite shop to buy clothes from?
May : It's been Topshop for a very long time. I always buy their jeans and I love their dresses and shoes!
Stacey : I love topshop, they do alot of different peices and also alot of good basics that you can mix and match ... Would you ever consider doing any OOTD’s on your blog?
May : They do! I love their vest tops! My blog is very beauty focussed but it's definitely somethinng I'd consider for the future, I always love seeing your OOTDs Stacey, and there are lots fab fashion bloggers with such beautifully put together outfits which are really inspiring!
Stacey : aww thanks huni ... I'd love to see them if you do decide to make some :) So now that you’ve answered all my general questions : abit more about May … What do you enjoy doing when your not blogging?
May : I like going to concerts, hanging out with my sisters who I'm very close with, doing lots of shopping, going out for cocktails with my friends and stepping out with The Chap! I'll often concoct a random group day out on a weekend and we'll end up attempting to be cultured at a stately home or at the beach or running around a maze for the day!Stacey : sounds fab ... running around a maze ... im terrible with directions so i'd end up lost all day hee hee! What’s your goal/ambitions in life?
May : Oh gosh that's a hard one! I try to take each day as it comes. I think it's good to have ambitions and goals but you can sometimes be so focussed on them that you can miss out on opportunities that come your way that might not have been in your original master plan or be disappointed if things don't go your way or you have to put things on hold. I know it's a cliché but I genuinely just want to be happy!
May : Gosh that was quite deep!
Stacey : awww thats sooo true ... hee hee :) I think everyone deserves to be happy!! If you could have afternoon tea & cakes with ANYONE in the world dead or alive who would it be and why ?
May : Do I have to pick just one person?
Stacey : no :)
May : Ok it would be a girly affair so my sisters would have to be there because we always have such a giggle together and they're amongst my favourite people! I'd love to have met Grace Kelly she's one of my idols. We used to watch High Society a lot when i was a child and she was such an enchanting, elegant woman. I'd invite Kate Middleton because I'd love to get all the first hand gossip about what’s being planned for the royal wedding and she looks like she’d be an afternoon tea kind of a girl and I'd have to invite Marilyn Monroe, I'd love to hear all her style secrets, I always used to have her picture on my wall!
Stacey : Grace kelly is stunning, her wedding dress was to die for ...Hey kate middleton could get style tips from her for it! & defo have to throw Marilyn in there :) If you had a time machine, and could travel to any time period when would it be and why?
May : Probably the 50s for a slice of the fashion and the music!
Stacey : Whats your favourite TV programme?
May : Gossip Girl, I do love Spooks too and Supernatural!
Stacey : i LOVE gossip girl ... if you could be any of the Disney Princesses which one would you be ?
May : I LOVE Disney Princesses and I always have the 'which Disney Princess would you be?' dilemma which shows I maybe have a bit too much time on my hands! I'm going to say Aurora from Sleeping Beauty beucase I like the idea of frolicking through the forest singing to the woodland creatures, I love my lie-ins and I'm quite obsessed with my Briar Rose beauty powder from MAC VV. Although I did feel like Cinderella when Katy invited me to the Aussie Take the Heat party in a 'you shall go to the ball' stylee!
Stacey : hahahaha love your lie ins ... perfect way to decide!!! as much as i LOVE cinderella i couldnt of coped with all that cleaning hee hee! Morning Bird or Night Owl ?
May : Night Owl definitely! I can quite happily stay up til the early mornings getting up to random shenanigans but I'm rubbish at getting up early!
Stacey : I wish i could stay up late ... im a proper party pooper! Who’s your celebrity crush?
May : I bet you're all bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning though whereas I'm having a dramatic tantrum about the alarm going off (ironically probably taking up energy which would be better spent transporting me into the bathroom to get ready) Probably Ryan Reynolds!
Stacey : Who’s the celebrity you have a crush on but secretly don’t want to tell anyone ?
May : Hahaha!
Stacey : You tell me yours and i'll tell you mine!
May : I nearly just fell off my bed laughing! I love how you asked that like you know Ryan Reynolds is my socially acceptable crush but really I have this clandestine crush and poor Ryan is the decoy! Richard Armitage from Spooks!
Stacey : hee hee hee, we all know Ryan is a decoy!!! I just had to google Richard Armitage lol ... abit obvious i dont watch Spooks! lol!! So finally .... SNOG MARRY AVOID Ryan Reynolds / Richard Armitage / David Beckham (just for good measure)
May : He was in this lovely period series called North and South which was what I first saw him in, if you liked Mr Darcy you'll love it!
Stacey : I think everyone has a thing for Mr Darcy!
May : There you go you see! OK I'd snog Ryan Reynolds, marry Richard Armitage and avoid David Backham!
Stacey : OMG you cant avoid Mr Beckham .. he GORGEOUS!!!
May : He's not my type I'm afraid!
